MEET YOUR MILAN FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER
I’m Sydney Duncan, a Milan-based photographer specializing in fashion photography and editorial-style branding photography across Italy.
I work with international clients who value imagery that feels intentional, effortless, and high end. My goal is to create photographs that don’t just document the moment — they hold the texture and feeling of it.
With a background rooted in fashion design and brand building, I approach every shoot with an editorial eye and a deep understanding of how images live in the world, from across press, digital platforms, campaigns, and beyond. Every frame is considered, every detail deliberate.
For today’s post, I’m taking you behind the scenes of an entire Milan Fashion Week, from runway shows and street style to invite only brand events and private industry moments, capturing the full rhythm, energy, and nuance of fashion week as it unfolds in real time.
runway photography with Anteprima
The ANTEPRIMA show was a gorgeous production. Pretty low key as far as Milan Fashion Week runways shows can go, but in a tasteful way. It was classic, sophisticated, and beautifully organized.
I avoided the photographers pit, opting instead to take my shots from the prospective of the crowd. I love the higher up side view and how the dark contrast of the guests frames the bright white runway.
candid guest shots
The guests at ANTEPRIMA did not disappoint. Featured on the right is model Iris Armiño (@iris_ermine), though unfortunately the identity of my stunning model on the left might just forever remain a mystery to me.
fashion portraits with brioni
I accompanied Russian fashion influencer Anna Kutz (@anuta_kuts) to a series of events over the week. On this day we were at Brioni for the release of their new womenswear collection. They had Anna head to toe in Brioni, a stunning caped black look that my camera couldn't get enough of.
details, details, details
The rest of Brioni's woman's wear collection was as sophisticated and well tailored as one would expect. I couldn't resist a few good cropped shots to capture the gorgeous detail work.
Milan street style Outside Diesel
Fashion Week street style photography is an experience.
I'll admit, one that I'm not overly impressed with it.
Fashion week street style is, in essence, fashion fanatics and photographers gathered around outside of the cities big shows - Diesel, Gucci, Valentino, and so on. Because not everyone gets the invite to these super exclusive events, the party overflows into the streets. Now, this aspect I love. Fashion week street style is totally inclusive, no matter your career achievements or how many followers you've got on social media. However... I think we could step up our game.
It's my understanding that in recent years Milan fashion week photographer has sort of lost some of its boom pow. I was never around in its heyday, but my observations of modern fashion weeks mirror the sentiment. I went from show to show, camera in hand, waiting outside to see these fashion week worthy looks. Of those, there were few. However, as you can see from my photos above from outside the Diesel runway show, there were some clear icons in the mix (thank god for them!).
The Fracomina show was another I had the privilege of shooting. A lower key event than Diesel obviously, but very well coordinated. The lighting was moody and glorious, and some of the guests (photo left) really showed out as well.
outside the milan gucci show
Milan Gucci street style was even more underwhelming than Diesel, though I did catch a glimpse of Anna Wintour in her car looking for parking (lol). Of course the looks I photographed above popped off. (@vasilina_kovalchukk in @eternal.conceptstore left, and @anuta_kuts in Dior right).
Moschino Street Style
Марина Филатова (@marinafilatovaaa) served with each and every one of her looks throughout milan fashion week, outside of Moschino was no exception.
versace, versace, versace
When K-pop star Hyunjin stepped out of the Versace show, people lost it.
I was quickly swept away by the see of mobbing fans, and somehow or another ended up right in homie's face. He was clearly there for show publicly, with the brand's logo painted into the side of his hair, so I didn't mind playing along. On a normal day... I'm not so sure I'd be game to pull out the camera. This level of intense celebrity swarming felt more like harassment than adoration.
Skin of angel brand launch
I later reconvened with Russian influencer Anna Kutz (who I had accompanied to Brioni and Gucci, if you recall) to photograph the Italian launch for Skin of Angel, Kutz's sportswear brand.
I love photographing fashion brand launches. I mean, I love event photography in general - the candid moments, the little intimate details - but take those same attributes through a professional designers thoughtful planning ... safe to say I'm in heaven. Not to mention the lewks. Just check those fashionistas photographed above (@Mary_in_italia far left, and @vvdorisvv in the dreamiest boots ever far left).
Fiorucci
Finishing off my Milan Fashion Week with Fiorucci was an absolute cherry on top.
This brand has a lot of sentimental value to me, so I'll admit that photographing their looks on the runway got a little emotional for me.
The Fiorucci show was total bliss. The photos still put big silly grin on my face.
Milan Fashion Week Afterparties

Next immediately back to Fiorocci for their after party, iPhone photo of my look curtesy of Miss Kutz.
Looking for fashion week event coverage?
I usually sugar coat this part of the blog post,
"Oh, go with the photographer who calls to your heart!"
"With so many incredible photographers in Milano, who could you go wrong?!"
No, no. This time I'll be frank. I'm the gal for the job.
If you’re looking for Milan Fashion Week event photography that feels editorial, intentional, and elevated... not just documentation for the sake of it... you want a photographer who understands fashion from the inside out. Someone who knows how to move through fast-paced runway shows, backstage chaos, brand activations, and private events while still producing imagery that feels authentic, high end, and magazine-ready.
I specialize in fashion week event coverage in Milan, working with designers, brands, PR teams, and creative directors who need images that translate seamlessly across press, social media, lookbooks, and post-event publicity. Lighting, movement, texture, atmosphere — it all matters, and it all shows up in the final gallery.
So yes, hire whoever the hell you want.
But if you want your Milan fashion event captured with the same care and precision that went into creating it, shoot me an email and let’s set it up.
