Meet your Milan Photographer

I’m Sydney Duncan, a Milan-based photographer specializing in romantic couple sessions, fashion photography, and editorial-style branding photography across Italy. I work with international clients who value imagery that feels intentional, effortless, and emotionally grounded. My goal is to create photographs that don’t just document the moment, they hold it.

Is a professional Maternity photo shoot for you?

Expecting a new little one can feel like a whirlwind! With so much to do in preparation (and not to mention so much money being spent), deciding whether or not to take on a professional maternity session is quite the decision… and there isn’t a wrong answer!

That being said, as someone with somewhat of an affinity for photos, I might try to persuade you to go for it, whether that’s with me as your photographer or someone else! A maternity photoshoot isn’t just about capturing a fleeting moment in time, it’s about celebrating the incredible journey your body is on, the love growing inside you, and the anticipation of meeting your baby. These images become timeless keepsakes, a way to look back years later and remember the glow, the emotions, and the sheer magic of this transformative time.

If you’re on the fence, ask yourself, “Will these photos bring me joy?” If the answer is yes, then it’s worth considering.

So, if you’re feeling drawn to the idea, why not take the leap? You won’t regret having these moments preserved in such a beautiful way.

Where to have your maternity photos taken?

Where you decide to have your maternity session photographed is a deeply personal decision, and there aren’t any right or wrong answers. There are, however, three main options that Milan based (or visiting) mothers tend to lead towards!

Home Maternity Session:

With so much happening in preparation for the new little one, oftentimes mom just wants the breeziest location possible… her own home! But just because it’s the easiest location to photograph your maternity session doesn’t make it any less optimal than your other options, in fact, if your home has the right lighting it could be the best. A home shoot adds a very special and very personal touch to your photos. It documents you in your sacred space, in all its intimacy and character.

Studio Maternity Shoot:

If you’re after something clean cut and with guaranteed photo worthy lighting, a Milan photography studio is the perfect spot for your session. This is the spot expecting mothers choose when they want to cut out the noise… and feel like a model for the day!

Lake Como Babymoon:

For a more “babymoon” style photography session, Lake Como is just about as dreamy as it gets. Imagine yourself, wind blown hair, face lit in soft golden light, with crystal clear water and breathtaking mountains painting the background. If drama and romance is what you’re after, then Lake Como could absolutely be the photoshoot location for you.

How to pose for your maternity photos

When it comes to posing, I’m absolutely here to help… though I’ll be honest, the best photos usually come with minimal guidance. When you are being yourself, it brings both ease and authenticity to your photos. Nothing forced, just relaxed, just you!

Of course, as a photographer who works often in fashion, if you’ve come to me you might be after that editorial edge to your session. This is my sweet spot, capturing your candid moments alongside more elevated editorial style looks.
