As a photographer working across Italy, it comes as no surprise that a good portion of my clients are looking to have their once in a lifetime proposal moment captured in one of the most stunning locations on earth: Lake Como.
Totally timeless and romantic, it's no wonder that couples of all ages, nationalities, and orientations (queer couples more than welcome!) travel from across the globe to pop the big question in this truly special place... however, executing a photographed boat proposal in a foreign country is easier said than done. That being said, with the right guidance, planning your Lake Como boat proposal photoshoot is a total breeze.

Why propose on a boat?
Of all of the proposal locations across Lake Como, a private boat is my absolute favorite.
With most other spots along the lake, excluding, say, renting out an entire villa to yourself (which will definitely set you back), you never quite know what you're going to get, mainly in terms of foot traffic.
With a private boat proposal, however, that unpredictability factor is greatly reduced. It's just our experienced boat captain there to guide us, the photographer (me), and of course our gorgeous couple.
It's romantic and intimate. No background noise and no interruptions.

As tourists unfamiliar with Italy, the logistics of planning your Lake Como proposal can be pretty overwhelming. The best thing you can do is find someone (like me, your photographer) or, depending on your budget, even a professional proposal planner. Someone who is knowledgeable of the area and its local vendors and who can help take your stress off so that you can focus on your big moment.
What does a Lake COmo boat proposal cost?
Like anything, costs for boat proposals can vary greatly depending on which private boat you decide to rent, which photographer you go with, and how long you are looking to shoot.
The best ballpark answer I can provide is my own rate + the rate of my go to skipper. For a one hour Lake Como boat proposal photoshoot with myself and Mario, you are looking at a 650 EUR investment. This includes the tour itself (accompanied by all of Mario's charisma), a bottle of celebratory bubbles, and of course a gallery of curated photos from your big proposal moment!
What to Expect from your Photoshoot?
This one is once again subjective, as from photographer to photographer the approach will vary.
When working with me, we capture a beautiful combination of candid moments (including your proposal of course) and gently posed engagement shots, all shot with a film inspired aesthetic. I am available to give as much posing guidance as needed, but aside from a small direction here and a small direction there, usually it isn't all that needed! What makes for the most stunning shots is when you and your love are captured as authentically you.
Deliverables-wise, after our session you can expect digital gallery of 30-35 high res, edited and lightly retouched images of your big proposal moment!
